Group Dining

Built for a big night

Snack Man is a dark, high-ceilinged concrete room on East Street, with the wine wall down one side and long tables running the length of it. Regional Chinese snacks, 500+ wines, and a room that carries a crowd.

Groups of 10 or more eat the chef’s banquet, sent out by the kitchen and matched to your table on the night. Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan are handled as standard, so a table with mixed dietaries orders together.

The space flexes with your numbers, and the menu flexes with the people at your table.

The Spaces

Choose from three spaces

Snack Man is a single cavernous venue on East Street with three genuinely different spaces inside it. Pick the one that fits your group, or take the lot.

The Mezzanine

10 to 12 seated · ~30 standing

Our private dining area, tucked upstairs above the restaurant. Removed enough to hear each other and make a speech, close enough to keep the buzz of the room below. The natural choice for a milestone dinner or a team that needs to actually talk.

  • The most private space in the venue
  • Ideal for intimate birthdays and work dinners
  • Seated banquet or standing with snacks

The Main Dining Room

~70 seated · 80 to 100 standing

The heart of the venue: high ceilings, polished concrete, and the ceiling-high wine wall behind the bar. We run long tables down the room for semi-exclusive events, so your group sits together in the middle of the atmosphere rather than tucked away from it.

  • Bifold windows open onto East Street
  • Full venue available for 100 standing

The Terrace

Al fresco · weather dependent

Street-side dining under East Street’s fairy-lit trees. It’s the part of the venue people photograph, and the easiest place to start or finish a night. Perfect for arrival drinks and snacks before your group moves inside.

  • Dining beneath fairy-lit trees
  • Ideal for pre or post-dinner drinks
  • Open-air, so we keep a wet-weather plan

The Banquet And The Wine

Eat and drink, sorted in one go

Groups of 10 or more dine on the chef’s banquet, matched to a 500+ bottle list. The banquet is built around your table on the night rather than chosen weeks out.

What tends to land on the table

Dishes trace back to specific regions rather than a generic pan-Asian menu. Your banquet is drawn from the same kitchen that sends out the à la carte list, so this is a fair picture of the night, not a stock photo of one.

Indicative only. Your chefs build the banquet on the night around your group’s preferences, the season, and anything the table can’t eat.

500+ bottles, and someone who knows all of them

The wine wall is the first thing your guests will notice. Behind it is a list built around small European producers, plus daily rotating by-the-glass selections and classic cocktails.

There’s no wine list on the wall to decipher. Tell our team what the table likes and what they’re eating, and they’ll pour to it, from genuinely affordable drops through to premium bottles. For a group, that removes the single most awkward part of ordering for other people.

“Our selection is very much a blend of beautiful benchmark bottles from regions which suit our food.”

Details

The practical bits.

Around 70 seated in the main dining room, or 80 to 100 standing for canapé-style events. The mezzanine seats 10 to 12, or around 30 standing. If your group is larger than that, we can look at running the event across Snack Man and our neighbouring venues, Happy Boy and Petite.

The mezzanine is our private dining space, and the full venue can be booked exclusively for larger events. For mid-sized groups we run long tables in the main dining room on a semi-exclusive basis, so your group has its own space while the restaurant keeps trading around you. Tell us your numbers and we’ll tell you honestly which one fits.

Groups of 10 or more dine on the chef’s banquet, from $65 per person. There’s no set banquet menu: the chefs vary it for every table, built around your group’s preferences and dietary requirements. Smaller groups can order à la carte.

Yes, and it’s one of the advantages of the banquet format. Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options are part of the standard menu rather than an afterthought, and most other requirements can be catered for with notice. Send them through when you confirm your numbers.

A $200 prepayment confirms bookings of 10 or more. It isn’t a fee: it comes off your final bill on the night. Cakeage is $2 per person if you’re bringing a cake. Cancellations inside 48 hours or no-shows are charged at $45 per person.

The terrace is open-air street-side dining under East Street’s fairy-lit trees, so it’s weather dependent and we don’t hold it exclusively. It works best as the place your group gathers for arrival drinks and snacks before moving inside, and we’ll always have an indoor plan if the weather turns.

East Street, Fortitude Valley, between Wickham and Ann Streets, next door to Happy Boy and a few steps from Petite. We’re a short walk from Fortitude Valley station and the Valley’s paid parking stations, which makes it straightforward for a group arriving from different directions.
